Convenient Motor Vehicle Registration Locations The Putnam County Clerk now offers three convenient locations that handle motor vehicle registration and many renewals can now be processed from the comfort of your easy chair with our convenient Online Renewal Service.
To title and register your new vehicle, you will need to submit to your resident county clerk the following:
•Manufacturer's Statement of Origin
•The new vehicle's invoice
•A copy of your current registration if transferring your license plate

Business Tax Information In Putnam County, most businesses must obtain a business license and report their gross receipts to the County Clerk on a yearly basis. The exceptions are businesses that pay the Professional Privilege Tax, manufacture products for the disabled, or gross less than $3,000.00 annually.  

After the first 30 days of operation, a new business has an additional 30 days to obtain a license. The fee for a business license is $15.00. Applications can be completed in the County Clerk's office or by mail.   Learn more >>

So, You Are Getting Married... Congratulations! During the hustle of getting ready for your nuptials we want to make the "business end" of getting ready for your special day easier. You can now apply for your marriage license at one of our convenient office locations.

Premarital Counseling is recommended.

Cost is $41.00 with premarital counseling or $99.00 without premarital counseling.

Copies of Marriage Certificates may be obtained at the County Clerk's office or by mail for $6.00 each.

Meet the County Clerk

wayneWayne Nabors is the Putnam County Clerk.

The office is currently located at 29 North Washington Avenue in Cookeville, Tennessee but will be moving in March 2010 to a new location at 121 South Dixie Avenue in Cookeville.

Wayne is in his second term as County Clerk of Putnam County having been first elected in 2002.

He is a member and Sergeant-At-Arms of the Cookeville Rotary Club, serves on the board of directors of the Cookeville Senior Citizens Center and on the board of directors of Poplar Grove Community Center in Cookeville. Wayne is also the pianist at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Algood, Tennessee which he and his family has attended for the past (15) years.

 

An emcee for many local community events, he also is a walking horse show organist traveling to approximately 28-30 shows per year playing for walking, pleasure and racking horse shows. 2010 will celebrate Wayne's 30th year of playing those shows.

Mr. Nabors also volunteers his time with the Cookeville Rescue Mission, Putnam County Fair, American Cancer Society & our local PBS television state WCTE-TV.
